The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has joined forces with the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) and Fujitsu Limited to modernize ETF trading in Australia. The trio signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 2, 2025, to develop a SaaS-based Request for Quote (RFQ) platform. Fujitsu will build the system using TSE's proven CONNEQTOR technology, which has processed record monthly volumes of JPY 306.4 billion as of April 2025.

The collaboration aims to enhance liquidity and price discovery in Australia's ETF market. CONNEQTOR's track record in Japan—where it serves 290+ users with cost-efficient trading solutions—suggests significant potential for ASX's initiative. Fujitsu will handle platform development and support, while TSE provides operational expertise from its successful implementation in Asia.

"ASX sees this partnership as a transformative opportunity for our markets," said Andrew Walton, General Manager of Trading at ASX. The MOVE signals growing institutional adoption of fintech solutions in traditional finance venues.
